We are a small maple syrup producer in Southern Maine.
We currently have about a 1200 taps. Most of our taps are on rented land with about 950 on a vacuum system. Since starting in 1989 we have grown considerably. Our first evaoprator was a very well used 2x8 Vermont. We then bought a new 2 1/2x8 Leader/King evaporator which we finally out grew and in 2005 we purchased a new 3x10 Leader/King evaporator. We use only wood fire to boil with and do not use a reverse osmosis machine either. We try to keep somethings as traditional as possible when we can. We do use tubing for most of our taps but we keep a few traditional buckets here on the farm and on one other location. Our season usually runs from late Feb til early April.
The products we have availible here are of course Pure Maine Maple Syrup, and also Maple Leaf candies,
maple sugared pecans, peanuts, and walnuts. We also make Maple Lolli pops! We have sold maple syrup all over the country and have some go to several countries in Europe but most of our customers are from right here in New England. Twice we have entered maple syrup contests and have done very well. In the early 90's we entered maple candy and won "Best of Show" at the Fryeburg Fair. In 2006 we entered a sample of Extra Dark syrup in the Southern Maine Sugar Makers Association contest and won 1st place with that entry receiving a perfect score of 100.
We have maple syrup availible year round for sale. We carry plastic containers from 1/2 pints, pints, quarts, 1/2 gallons, and gallons. In glass we have 50 ml maple leafs, 250 ml moose basques, and 500 ml plain basques.
